Stifeling!!!!

My god Ms. is such a bad teacher!!!!! Lately, I have been watching her teach and I am getting more and more annoyed. She spoon-feeds the kids and they are little chickens stuck in a cage unable to move. The are constantly told to move at her pace- don't go ahead. And if she thinks they don't know the answer then she gives it to them...even during a test!

I have given two guided reading groups and both of them have gone very very well. I bought dry erase markers for my kids to use and they are so excited. I am also teaching them "good reader strategies".

Oh, the funniest thing happened on Thursday- I made a transparency and used it for math and Ms. was so shocked. She asked me if it was hers, and when I told her no and that I made it she asked me how. Umm, why after 13 + years of teaching you don't know how to make a transparency or where to get them?

I emailed my 4th and 5th grade teachers. Ms. Lower is the only one to respond so far. She remembered me and told me the latest on my other teachers so that I may contact them. It brought back so many memories!

Explaining me...

I am a literacy intern for the school district of Philadelphia and that means I am co-teaching. I share a classroom with a vet. teacher who idealy shows me the ropes as I help her manage her classroom of 24 or more students. I am in a second grade classroom in West Philly and right now we have 31 kids. If all goes well I should have 29 by Christmas!!! My class is difficult, mostly because of the boys in the class. They are so defiant. We almost always have fights, children walking out or someone that we have to document for the wrong behavior.

My co-teacher Ms. isn't happy. I can tell because she is always saying "I can't believe you want to be a teacher?" "Are you sure this is what you want to do?" "It'll be worse for you when you have your own classroom". Those things don't bother me but it's the sitting down all day she does that bothers me and the negativity towards the kids.
